In 2020 we have all learned what it means to underestimate the impact of unlikely events, to misinterpret forecasts or take them seriously too late, or to be unable to filter or prioritise what is relevant to us in a flood of information. The methods and techniques were available but neither widely known, tangible nor connected.
Motivated by the example of Covid-19 we want to ask ourselves fundamental questions in a research initiative: How can the tasks of decision makers be made easier through better integration, more efficient processing, and intuitive presentation of data from statistical phenomena and natural growth processes? How do we initiate timely measures in case of new, conspicuous symptoms before an epidemic develops? And if that does not work: How can crisis management with a better data basis become more proactive and strategic? Contact tracing is now familiar to everyone. What will everyone be familiar with during the next pandemic? And what works even better?
YOUR TASKS
Development of data-driven product ideas and concepts in the life science field with focus on probabilistic phenomena and growth processes
Feasibility studies and prototype development in this environment
Technical architecture for data-intensive analysis tools
Coordinator role in research initiatives and cooperations, especially as interface between data science and life science experts
Medium-term: Establishment of a life science team to develop customer projects
YOUR PROFILE
Studies or many years of professional experience in the field of life sciences, ideally biology (ideally including virology)
Studies or many years of professional experience in the collection, preparation and processing of
very large amounts of data (as analyst, data scientist, etc.)
Experience in reporting and preparation of knowledge for decision makers
Understanding of statistics and growth processes
Project or product experience in the area of management dashboards, real-time analysis or forecasting tools that work with large amounts of data (big data, predictive analytics, machine learning)
OPTIONAL EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS
Experience in marketing
Experience in combining classic (SQL) databases and no-SQL databases
Salary
We offer a salary of EUR 3.139 monthly gross based on experience level ST2 set by the IT-collective bargaining agreement. Negotiable based on your expertise.
